How things work.
Most things in Sandhaven Court are very simple to use. The below things might be a touch more complicated or might require more information.
Quooker Boiling Water Tap
The Quooker boiling water tap in the kitchen allows you to fill a pan with instant boiling water or make a tea or coffee quickly. This is probably the thing that you never thought you needed in your life… but after a week in Sandhaven Court, probably now realise that you can’t live without it!
There is a ‘knack’ to turning the boiling water on, but the film opposite should assist you. The tap also provides regular hot and cold water, as a normal tap would… and if the thought of a boiling water tap scares you, there’s always the Dualit Kettle?!
Sage Nespresso Creatista Plus
We have a Nespresso coffee machine. It can be a little demanding (for a coffee machine) but we promise it is worth it. It is straightforward to use and doesn’t require particular instruction; put your pod in, make sure the water tank at the back is full, select your coffee choice and hit start. However, occasionally, either the steam wand will need cleaning or it will need descaling. There is descaling solution in the cupboard above the machine.
Sonos System
Sonos is a WiFi based music playing system (see summary video opposite). In the apartment, you have a Beam Sound Bar (under the TV) in the living room, Ray Sound Bar (under the TV) in the Master and a Sonos One in both the Guest Bedroom and Kitchen. Both the Beam and Ray automatically plays the TV sound; You don’t need the App to watch TV in either room. You will need the App to play music on the Sonos One (Sonos App Version 2) in the Kitchen and Bedroom.
It should be very easy for you to link into Sonos if you want to play your music, but you must have the App. Once you have the App (or if you already have the App) please follow these short instructions:
Sonos : Connect to an existing Sonos System in a different location
Heating System (ThermaSkirt)
In 2022 we refurbished the apartment and installed ThermaSkirt heating, which is a very efficient and modern electric heating system which heats the room through the skirting boards themselves. We went for this as it is space efficient (no radiators!) and provides the quickest and most efficient way of heating the entire rooms - much better than under floor heating systems.
The heating is controlled through in room Thermostat’s like any usual heating system.
Sky Stream (TV)
The TV has a Sky Stream, also know as Sky Puck. It is like a regular Sky dish, but without the dish(!) and instead ‘powered’ across the internet.
The remote control can be a little temperamental, but please just push the batteries in a bit more if the control stops working.
We have this system in both Bedrooms and the Living Room.
